How to read the calendar
Each release shows its importance, the previous figure, the forecast and — once it is out — the actual figure. Price reacts to the surprise, not to the number itself: an actual well above or below the forecast is what moves the market. High-impact releases can make spreads widen and price jump in the first minutes, so many traders stay flat, tighten risk or wait for the first move to settle.
